The High Cost of Dying in ‘Krusada’

For the Filipino poor, burial services are becoming as expensive as living itself. Sometimes it would even take a whole month before they could properly have the deceased buried due to high funeral costs.

Tomorrow (November 3) in “Krusada,” Gus Abelgas will push for the creation of a program that would aid underprivileged families during the loss of their loved ones.

Gus will feature two bereaved families whose loved ones’ sudden demise left them struggling and figuring out how to pay their funeral expenses.

Meanwhile, “Krusada” is nominated for Best Documentary Program at the 2011 PMPC Star Awards for TV. It is also a contender for the 2011 Golden Screen TV Awards’ Outstanding Public Affairs Program and Outstanding Public Affairs Program Host for Abner Mercado, who is nominated for his report “Laya” that campaigned for the executive clemency of senior citizens in jail.

The advocacy journalism program is also nominated for Outstanding Natural History/Wildlife Program at the 2011 Golden Screen TV Awards, while “Kabayan” Noli De Castro is nominated for Outstanding Natural History/Wildlife Program Host for his report “Lindol,” where he assessed the country’s disaster preparedness.

Because it takes more than words to make a stand, listen, take part, and be one with Gus Abelgas’ campaign in “Krusada” tomorrow (November 3), after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN.
