Tropical Storm Quiel – PAGASA Weather Update September 29, 2011

Tropical storm QUIEL is already in the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and has slightly intensified as it continues to move westward at around 11 a.m. of September 29 (Thursday) according to the latest bulletin from Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Tropical storm Quiel is estimated based on satellite and surface data at 1,150 kms East of Aparri, Cagayan (18.3°N, 133.9°E) with maximum sustained winds of 110 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 140 kph and is moving West at 13 kph.

No public storm signal raised.

Friday morning: 870 km East of Aparri, Cagayan

Saturday morning: 560 km East of Aparri, Cagayan

Sunday morning: 260 km East of Aparri, Cagayan

Tropical storm QUIEL is expected to intensify into a typhoon (Bagyong Quiel) by Sunday and is forecast to hit the provinces of Cagayan and Isabela. The western part of Luzon including the National Capital Region (NCR) will experience rains due to the National Capital Region (NCR).
