Karen Davila Promotes Regular Breast Screening in ‘Krusada’

The Philippines has the highest incidence of breast cancer in Southeast Asia, according to data from Philippine Cancer Society. Three out of every 100 Filipinas are likely to develop breast cancer.

This Thursday in “Krusada,” Karen Davila, together with ICanServe Foundation and the UP-PGH’s Cancer Detection Center, will urge women to undergo regular breast examinations for screening and early detection, which can significantly improve survival rates.

Karen also meets up with two women fighting the deadly disease. The first is a former model, Tetta Ortiz-Matera, who acquired the disease despite living a healthy lifestyle and the second is a fish vendor, Miriam Cortez, whose case worsened because she didn’t have it examined due to lack of money and did not know where to access free medical service.

Because it takes more than words to make a stand, listen, take part, and be one with Karen Davila’s cause this Thursday (September 15) in “Krusada,” after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN, or catch it earlier at 9:15 pm on DZMM TeleRadyo (SkyCable channel 26).
