The $1.1 million “monster” bus of President Obama is talk of the town.

The Associated Press describes the bus, also known as the Obamamobile, “an impenetrable-looking conveyance the size of a cross-country Greyhound, painted all in black, with dark tinted windows and flashing red and blue lights.”

Ed Donovan, Secret Service spokesman, emphasized that the bus would be used for other dignitaries in the future and it wasn’t purchased solely for the president. He also said that the agency has not previously acquired buses in its fleet and was overdue to get some for politicians traveling by bus.

Although the Secret Service did not reveal the specifications of the $1.1 million bus, they said it has similar features to “the Beast,” a tricked-out limo and the president’s regular ride. That official Cadillac comes with thick, reinforced doors and reportedly is equipped with bulletproof glass that can withstand a rocket-propelled grenade or a chemical attack.

The bus is currently being used by the the president for his trip to Iowa, Minnesota, and Illinois.
