Polar Bear Kills 1 Teenage Boy, Injures 4 in Norway

A 17-year-old British boy was killed by a polar bear in Norway on Friday while his 4 friends were injured.

80 people, most of them between 16 and 23 years old, were mauled by a polar bear while they’re on a trip to a remote Arctic archipelago in Norway’s Svalbard region leaving 1 of them killed and 4 hurt before a member of the expedition shot the bear dead.

The British Schools Exploring Society confirmed that two trip leaders, Michael Reid and Andrew Ruck, and two young people, Patrick Flinders and Scott Smith, had been injured and were being flown to Tromsoe in northern Norway for treatment. The adventure travel charity, did not disclose the name of the 17-year-old boy who was killed.
