President Obama’s Approval Rating Hits All-Time Low

According to Gallup’s daily presidential tracking poll from the period of July 26 to 28, 2011, only 40% of Americans gave U.S. President Obama an approval rating.

However, 41 percent of the public said they approved of the way the U.S President is handling the debt-ceiling negotiations while 52 percent disapproved.

The poor rating comes amidst an increasingly chaotic debate over raising the debt ceiling, as the deadline to raise it or risk the government defaulting on its debts looms.

But despite this poor ratings, Obama still fared better than the Congressional leadership. Speaker of the House John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid both received even lower approval rates.

Gallup’s daily presidential tracking poll result was based on 1,463 adults respondent in the U.S. by telephone and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
