Shirley Gorospe Dead at 73
Shirley Gorospe (real name: Shirley Endoso), one of Philippine cinema’s most beautiful leading ladies in the 50s and 60s, died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in California on July 9, Saturday, due to brain tumor and lung cancer complication. She was 73.
Her death was confirmed by Pempe Rodrigo, a friend of Gorospe and prime mover of “Balik Samahan,” a group of veteran stars that holds regular reunions.
Gorospe, who was the 1956 Miss Philippines-California titlist, was born in Hawaii to an Ilocano father and a Portuguese mother.
She appeared in several movies in the 50s including “Sweethearts,” “Shirley, My Darling,” “Pitong Gatang,” and “Tipin.”
