Although the President Noynoy Aquino discontinued the “holiday economics” implemented by former administration, he made an exception with the upcoming 150th birthday celebration of our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal.
The order has it that if a holiday falls on a Sunday, the next day which is Monday will be a regular working day. However, Dr. Jose P. Rizal‘s 150th birthday on June 19 falls on a Sunday and P-Noy would like to extend the celebration until Monday.
President Aquino has signed Proclamation 154 last April 26, 2011 declaring June 20, 2011 (Monday) as a special non-working holiday upon request by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) so that they commemorate Rizal’s patriotic deeds and sacrifices with appropriate ceremonies.
Check out the official Facebook Page of Rizal @ 150 for the lined-up events this Sunday and Monday.
