‘The Love of Siam’ Starring Mario Maurer to be Tagalized Soon?

Mario Maurer became a household name in the Philippines after his Thai film "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" garnered a very high rating last Sunday morning.

The tagalized version of the hit Thai romantic comedy (CLICK HERE FOR RELATED ARTICLE) was shown last Sunday morning as a presentation of Kapamilya Sunday Blockbuster on ABS-CBN. It garnered a national TV rating of 18%, higher than ASAP Rocks, The Buzz and Good Vibes which is rare for a program being shown at that early time.

Furthermore, “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” (known in other countries as “First Love”) and its lead star “Mario Maurer” became a trending search keyword on Yahoo and “Mario Maurer” became a trending topic on Twitter.

After the airing of “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”, Filipino fans of the Thai heartthrob posted their appreciation on Twitter. Mario Maurer, on the other hand, replied and thanked his Filipino fans and he even twitted the following photo with a message “For my Filipino Fans”:

That’s Mario Maurer wearing an “Adobo” t-shirt. Adobo, as we all know, is the most popular Filipino food.

And since Pinoy netizens are abuzz about this Thai heartthrob, there are now clamors that the movie who catapulted Maurer to fame be tagalized and shown on Philippine television. The film I am talking about is “The Love of Siam.”

Did you know that Mario Maurer won Best Actor for this movie in the Southeast Asian film category at the 10th Cinemanila International Film Festival? His performance was described as “Mature acting choices within a wide range of situations. Beneath a calm and placid external demeanor his performance he displayed a rich inner struggle dealing with emotional burdens, with family, friends, his social circle and his romantic and sexual awakening.”

The sensational Thai movie is written and directed by Chookiat Sakveerakul. It is being described as a multi-layered family drama with a groundbreaking element in the story which is is a gay romance between two teenage boys.

Sounds intriguing right? Do you think it has a shot of being tagalized and shown on Philippine television despite the fact that it has a kissing scene between two teenage boys (Maurer and the other lead star)?

    two years ago ko pa npanuod yung love of siam…. pero, binabalik balikan ko pa din! sobrang ganda… at ang mgnda pa, hindi sya “gay film” na ginagawa ng mga filipino.. its more of like a movie of FAMILY VALUES.. panuorin nyo… maganda!

    the movie has a sensitive topic…pero my value…i think hindi ito proper na ipalabas sa free tv…kasi my mga scenes na maaaring makaapekto sa mga bata..better kung sa sinehan na lang ito ipalabas…sana makuha ng star cinema ang rights nito…i’m gay and for sure na papanoorin ko to….mario maurer ito eh…^_^ opinyon ko lang

    im sure gagayahin na naman nang gma 7 yan! sila pa e nung sumikat ang “lovers in paris” kumuha din sila korean soap? nung sumikat ang “meteor garden” kuha na naman sila nang itatapat? nung nagclick ang mga franchise shows like “big brother”…nagfranchise na rin sila? e sabi ni mam wilma, hindi sila magpafranchise kasi maganda raw ang local shows nila? o ano kinain nya ang mga salita nya, at kumuha nang maraming franchise shows?! so, whats new gma 7???

    I am not at all surprised that Crazy Little Thing Called Love bested Amaya in terms of rating. it is expected already since mario maurer got thousands of fans in the Philippines. And because of this, it opens a door for another Thai blockbuster movie entitled THE LOVE OF SIAM. Aside from mario maurer, there is another cute guy who is also a main character, he plays the role of Mew- he is super cute, super talented and just like Mario super handsome-his name is Witwisit Hiranyawongkul. No doubt, once this movie is shown in Philippine TV especially in ABS-CBN, it’s going to be a BLOCKBUSTER again.

    I already watch The love of Siam
    marami rin makakarelate nito
    I love this movie
    but the ending is very sad

    I think “The points that the films attempts to teach viewers – and a largely conservative thai society – is that love is an involved form of emotional attachment that transcend sexual attraction of the physical form”… Other Big country sad that this movie was amazing because of the family drama and on his friends and love once… And most importantly we need to remember that “‎”Love is not what we mean, but what we feel”

    2 weeks ng nag t trend sa yahoo phils at twitter phils si mario maurer, pati ung CLTCL at ngyon itong The Love of Siam… dami pla awards tong film n to..kahit sa mainstream award giving bodies, sana talaga mapalabas…Kahit sa Sunday blockbuster tym p sya ng ABS masya nko.. kng makuha man ng GME, na gawain n nila un noon pa,maki ki ride on sa sikat o pinasikat ng ABS…diba rem. Meteor Garden at Rosalinda n nag flop ng sa kanila ipalabas… kng sa GME ipapalabas, konti lng mkakapanood. ulitin ko n lng ulit ung copy ko, pangit kc mag dub ung GME.

    punta kayo dito 3 hours lang naman ang Manila-Bangkok hehe, mas maganda ang Bangkok kesa Manila, sa MRT palang talo na ang pinas pati taxi dito ang gaganda iba iba kulay may pink, yellow, green, red, blue etc… haha…I’ve seen Mario in person mixed race kasi cya kaya gwapo pero mas madaming cute dyan sa atin compared dito haha…addict ako kay Mario ngayon hahaha

    I’ve watched it, and nakakaiyak to especially to those who are attracted with the same sex. After watching this movie, this went on my mind for days..

    I became PCHY fan and mario also. I love the song “gun lae gun” and the best part of the movie aside from the kiss is when PCHY sang and mario (tong) rushed to see him, so touching!

    Oh well I remember, the lost red nose of PCHY’s (Mew’s) toy!

    I have to watch this again.

    it is just people need to become open-minded so that they will see beyond what is given…this movie is very inspirational!!!and without any lust into it!!!again a kiss doesn’t mean the movie is lustful!!!

    It is a great movie (The Love Of Siam) actually I’ve already finished it! The story is great but what I like the most is the twist of the story! I suggest you should really watch it! Plus ABS-CBN also said that if “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” became a hit here in the Philippines they will show this movie “The Love Of Siam” in ABS-CBN plus they will try their best to invite Mario Maurer to come here in the Philippines & do some TV Projects.
