Athena Mae Imperial Named Miss Philippines Earth 2011

24-year-old Athena Mae Imperial from the Municipality of Casiguran, Aurora was chosen to become the 11th Miss Philippines Earth.

Hailed from the Municipality of Casiguran in Aurora, Athena Mae Imperial bested 48 other candidates for winning the title Miss Philippines Earth 2011 during the pageant finale held earlier tonight, June 5, in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. She quoted the Bible verse “Many are called but few are chosen” during the interview portion of the pageant.

Imperial was among the shortest candidates this year with a height of 1.68m (5’6″) but she made quite an impression during the final question and answer round. She bested hometown girl and crowd favorite Jonavi Raisa Quiray who was considered a front-runner for the crown. Quiray settled for the title Miss Philippines Air which is equivalent to 1st Runner Up.

Athena Mae Imperial will represent the country in the annual Miss Earth pageant to be held in Pattaya, Thailand this coming November 12. She succeeded Miss Philippines Earth 2010 Kris Psyche Resus.

    hey people, instead of bashing each others’ comments and saying negative things about Athena why don’t we all just support her and defy social definitions of beauty (read: tall, fair)? After all, we are all Filipinos.

    @emo2011 kc ung last year naman hind sya ganun ka stunning, matalino sya pero hind sya mukhang pang beauty queen. pag dating sa ibang bansa nasapawan na ung candidate natin,. tapos ngayon parang ganun din ang mangyayari. maganda yung si ms athena, pero para sa akin kulang sya. pero sana mauwi pa rin nya ang crown, im hoping and praying for ms athena pa rin.

    nanood talaga ako til the end….only anthena gives the fast and brilliant answer among others…..the rest sayang….especially cebu…..maganda sana but i think she was not confident enough to answer the question….para s’yang umiiyak… to athena good luck girl sana manalo ka sa ms earth…..just keep on praying….
