Rain Tops TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2011 Poll
Korean actor-singer Rain has been voted the most influential person in the world in an online poll conducted by TIME Magazine.
Rain ranked first in the voting for this year’s 100 Most Influential People while Taiwan’s Jay Chou and Britain’s Got Talent winner Susan Boyle took second and third place respectively.
Rain received the highest number of votes out of the 204 candidates with 439,251 people voting for him. Jay Chou, a Taiwanese director-singer-songwriter, received 229,442 votes and Susan Boyle, a Scottish singer, received 167,711 votes.
Rain has outranked some of the most well-known figures in the world such as TIME magazine The Person of the Year 2010 and creator of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg who ranked 28th, Michelle Obama, the first lady of the U.S., who placed at no. 32, U.S. President Barack Obama who is in 46th spot and Oprah Winfrey, a famous TV show host, who ranked 84th.
Rain is consistently in the list of TIME Magazine 100 Most Influential People for six straight years since 2006.
The official ranking to be made by editors of TIME will be released soon.
Rain is awesome, I like fullhouse, great singer.
The vote was online and open to anyone. Not the typical Time magazine readers. I’m guessing few of those would acknowledge “Ninja Assassin” as a real movie or anything else he’s done that has gotten out of Korea. Few of the members on the list contribute anything but “Bubble gum” entertainment that is quickly forgoten until the next music hit comes out.
Those “idols” in the entertaining world are some of the most influential people in the world? MY FOOT! What have they done to humanity? Just by providing some entertainment to a specific audience , you call influential people ?What a sad joke .I hope TIME can be more serious in nominating candidates or stop this laughable campaign .
wheres gaga???:(
Well i guess you folks probably aren’t aware, the votes are predominantly from TIME magazine readers who aren’t your typical teeny weeny teen vogue or seventeen magazine readers. Also, as far as I know, the movie Ninja Assassin was a hit to a certain extent. It was just sad that he had to do a typical martial arts film in which he is not used to doing.
All i know is DYOS ang turing sa kanya sa korea
dont say that… a lot of people dont know him………. di porket fan nya kayo.. tatawagin nyo ng ignorante ang di nakakakilala sa kanya… ano ba yan si Rain? para kailangan makilala ng lahat… kaw ang ignorante… magsama kayo ni Rain.. kung sino man yan!
Rain may not really be influential globally, but to say that “di siya kilala” is reflective of the ignorance of the person who says this.
i know rain… pero to be named as the most influential??? in the whole world??? besting oprah and the obamas??? please… wag magbulagbulagan ang fans,.,,
wow! way to go rain!
fyi si rain siya si justine sa fullhouse..
Syempre pag bomoto ang mga tao sa China na 1.3 Billion siguradong panalo sya samahan pa nang mga taga taiwan, korea, japan at singapore…
imo, rain and jay chou are not influential in a world-wide sense. many non-asian foreigner FB friends of mine don’t even know them. sa east asia lang sila kilala and we all naman na overpopulated ang east asia.
i can’t believe it. Where’s willie revillame?
well..it’s just based on votes kaya popularity contest lang yan, or masipag lang bumoto ang mga fans nya, kc ang totoo HOW CAN HE BE MORE INFLUENTIAL THAN THE FACEBOOK FOUNDER or the PRES OF THE US! LOL
Kilala po xa, nkpg concert n nga xa s pinas.. At nafeauture n rin xa s mga us tv show, aun ay qng may cable kyo?..
Nagtataka lang ako, pano naging influential eh di kilala.
Full House is a record holder also at prime time TV!!!
congratz rain!
sorry he’s not influential to filipinos! haha!
nagdala lang niyan yung dami ng fans niya sa china, korea at japan, paramihan ba ng votes, pero worldwide di siya kilala.
If hes really influencial, why his movies didnt make it to box office?
Kinda impossible
wow! Bi Rain and Jay Chou. Both my idols ruled:D
