Ariel Rivera, Dawn Zulueta, and Eula Valdez will reprise the roles of Fernando, Magda, and Selina in the TV series endeared to many Filipinos in the late 1990s.
“This is an emotional comeback for me,” says Ariel, who was part of the cast of the original series and will take on a bigger role this time. “I am excited to be part of ’Mula sa Puso,’ which was a record-breaking soap.”
Dawn and Eula, who last worked together in the movie “Hindi Pahuhuli ng Buhay” in 1989, are aware of the public’s expectation and possible comparison of their performances vis-à-vis Jaclyn Jose and Princess Punzalan in the original series.
“It’s an honor for me to reprise a role that has been iconic. It helps your performance if you are in the company of good actors. I’ve worked with Eula in the past and she is a very good actress,” says Dawn.
“People will compare us with the original actresses. I take it as a challenge but I don’t want to think about it. I have visualized how I will portray the role and I am sure Direk Wenn will take care of me. We can’t please everyone. I am just thankful to be given this break,” says Eula.
Wenn Deramas is excited to be directing the remake that will star Lauren Young, JM De Guzman, and Enrique Gil. The three beat over a hundred stars who auditioned for the lead roles in the much-awaited remake.
“We spent two days for the auditions. It is nice to be given the chance to pick the stars who will appear in a teleserye,” says Direk Wenn.
The recent announcement of the cast of “Mula sa Puso” remake has created public excitement. And the stars are feeling the pressure including DJ Durano.
“The pressure is always there. We would not be on our toes if there is no pressure. It helps in ensuring that we give our best and deliver good performances,” he says.
“Mula sa Puso” will air on Monday, March 28, at 6:00 PM on ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida.
