Kapamilya Helpline for Japan Created

In keeping with its promise of being in service to the Filipinos worldwide, ABS-CBN has put up the Kapamilya Helpline to aid those who need help in contacting their loved ones in Japan after the devastating earthquake and tsunami that struck the country.

ABS-CBN set up the nerve center wherein a group of social workers from ABS-CBN Foundation handle the calls and provide crisis counseling to callers who are worried about their loved ones in Japan while employee-volunteers monitor the message boards online.

Those who contact the Helpline would leave contact numbers of their loved ones in Japan. The volunteers would then call their loved ones to check on their condition and update their relatives in the Philippines. If the volunteers are unable to contact the person, they forward the information to Department of Foreign Affairs and the Philippine Embassy in Japan.

The Kapamilya Helplines are 411-0011 and 411-0012. The website is www.abs-cbn.com/kapamilyahelpline .

    The last his family had heard from Edito Magno, a Filipino overseas worker in Miyagi, Japan, he was stranded on the second floor of his office building and the water from the tsunami was rising fast.

    “Please help us as we are so worried,” said the message found on GMA News’ People Finder for Filipinos in Japan.

    That was one of nearly 2000 messages left by mostly family members in the Philippines frantically trying to contact loved ones in disaster-torn northeastern Japan on the online help form on this web site.

    Barely 24 hours have passed since the magnitude-8.9 earthquake struck Japan on March 11.

    On Friday night, several hours after the earthquake, GMA News Online set up its own version of a People Finder, which is similar to Google’s service but caters to Filipinos in Japan and their families back home.

    It received hundreds of posts within hours. Many of the submissions range from expressions of uncertainty to cries of urgency. But there are also messages of relief and comfort.

    At saka move on na kay angel kasi lumipat na sya ng bahay he he. Di kasi maganda sa station nyo eh kaya kahit karamihan ng abs cbn stars na lumilipat sa tv 5 pumupunta di sa gma kasi tuluyan silang malalaos sa bulok ninyong network he he.

    sa magazine covers na lng kumikita si Marian Palengkera kasi hindi sya busy, di tulad ni Angel, may top rating serye at 2 movies na nakaline up this year Ang Huling Sayaw at MMK the movie, icompare ba ang magazine covers sa TV and movie assignments ha ha ha, wala nang maipagmalaki kaya pati covers sa pipitsuging magazine na konti lng ang readers eh ipagmalaki ha ha ha, so pathetic ng mga fans ni Psychology.
