Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire (26-1, 18 KOs) dethroned Mexican Ferdinand Montiel (44-3-2) in their fight called “Ang Pagtutuos” at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, on February 19 (Sunday morning in Manila).
Donaire stopped Montiel via technical knockout (KO) in the second round making him the first world title boxing winner for 2011. He just won the World Boxing Council and World Boxing Organization bantamweight crowns.
Donaire is now the no. 5 pound-for-pound boxer in the world according to Ring Magazine. Manny Pacquiao is at no. 1.
