Darren Criss & Chris Colfer EW Cover: Gay Teens on TV

Entertainment Weekly made a special report about gay teen characters on tv!

Headlining the report are two characters from the highly popular Fox musical comedy “Glee.” It’s the half-Pinoy half-Irish Darren Criss (straight in real life) and Chris Colfer (gay in real life) on the cover.

Kurt (Chris) is a member of the Glee club. He came out to his father in the episode “Preggers”. Blaine (Darren) was introduced as a gay character in the season 2 episode “Never Been Kissed”. Dave Karofsky was introduced as a football player and a bully in season one. In season two he began targeting Kurt for being gay. In “Never Been Kissed” Kurt confronts Dave and Dave kisses him. Aside from Glee, other tv series with gay character(s) on it are Modern Family, Nurse Jackie, Sophie, Crumbs, My Name is Earl, The Office, Entourage, 90210, Gossip Girl, Desperate Housewives, and Melrose Place among others.
