‘My Amnesia Girl’ Earns P43.86M in 1st 5 Days
Although the Toni Gonzaga-John Lloyd Cruz starrer failed to top the local box office last weekend period of November 24 to 28, it managed to haul a very descent P43.86 million despite the presence of Harry Potter which is posed to become the highest-grossing Hollywood movie in the Philippines for 2010.
The figure came from third party tabulator Box Office Mojo and based only from 90 major movie screens in the country which means around 15 to 25 theaters in the provinces were not yet accounted for. This also means the Star Cinema rom-com movie could have earned around P50 to P60 million for the said period.
Here’s the Philippine box office tally for the opening weekend of November 24 to 28, 2010 according to Box Office Mojo (premiering movies are highlighted in yellow):

yeah…its 44M for 5 days…that’s a big number comparing to GMA films, umaabot sa ganyang figure after 3-5 weeks pa ng pashowing nila sa movie, or shall we say, minsan lang nila naabot ang ganyang figure!

Mr Abunda of course was given instruction by ABS PR department to make this announcement. they’re trying to make up for something that the company is lagging on. lately, movie results from Star cinema are not doing very well except that of Bea/JLC starrer MYLC. star cinema had to make a good impression that they’re still tops when it comes to box office results that’s why they’ll do anything (even padding) to come out on top and so this press (actually it should be ‘praise’) release.

I don’t understand how starmometer come up with this kind of explanation on the results coming from box office mojo. does this mean that all other past results of other movies were also short changed by this independent tabulator? if your claim is true with my amnesia girl, how will you explain about the movie you changed my life released in 2009 when it was clearly stated there the number of theaters at 77 when in fact it was shown to more than a hundred theaters. does this mean that the amount of final gross should be more than 230M as reported?
