Michael V. and Dingdong Dantes are Nominated in the 2010 Asian Television Awards
Ace comedian Michael V. is among the finalists in the Best Comedy Performance by an Actor/Actress category of the 2010 Asian Television Awards. Michael got the nod via his performance on GMA’s realiserye “Pepito Manaloto.”
The Filipino comedian is up against Alaric Tay (The Noose 3) of Singapore, Michelle Chong (Black Rose) of Singapore, Chua En Lai (The Noose 3) of Singapore, Sudarat Bootprom (Vongkumlao the Series) of Thailand and Michelle Chong (The Noose 3) of Singapore.
Kapuso top leading man Dingdong Dantes, on the other hand, is among the finalists in the Best Drama Performance by an Actor category of the 2010 Asian Television Awards. Dingdong is nominated for his stellar performance in the Philippine adaptation of the koreanovela “Stairway to Heaven.”
Dingdong is up against Chang Shan-Wei (The Pioneers) of Taiwan, Lee Cheng Yun (The Adjusters) of Malaysia, Bowie Lam (Sister of Pearl) of Hong Kong, Frederick Lee (Glowing Embers) of Malaysia and Chen Sicheng (Pretty Maid) of China.
In the Programming category, the GMA documentary “Planet Philippines” as hosted by Richard Gutierrez is nominated for Best Natural History of Wildlife Programme or Docu Drama. GMA’s flagship news program 24 Oras (Maguindanao Massacre) is nominated in the Best News Program category. The GMA gag show Bubble Gang is nominated in the Best Comedy Program category. GMA’s docu program Reporter’s Notebook: Ondoy’s Wrath is nominated in the Best Public Affairs Program category.
ABS-CBN’s International Emmy-nominated teleserye “Dahil May Isang Ikaw”, on the other hand, is nominated in the Best Drama Series category.

Just to be fair: as far as i know GMA has been well-awarded in the previous years of ASIAN awards before the day Gozon became part of it.the truth is,GMA seven had gained handfuls of awards compared this year even Gozon is part of the panel.
If i’m not mistaken,ABS Charo Santos was part of the panel of Asian Awards before where GMA bagged the Terrestrial Network of Asia.
Let us be proud if Filipinos were acknowledged abroad.the truth is,International awards are far more credible than the local award giving bodies.

In Dong’s case it’s because STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN (the orig) was a phenomenal hit in Asia. Almost nobody in Asia doesnt know the tragic strory of Stairway the same thing king gaano kapopular ang meteor garden kaya di gaanong mahalaga amg ATA sa ABS dahil binibili na nga ang nomination questionable pa ang criteria.

I am a true blooded Kapamilya.. and I also watch tv series from GMA to set a comparison.. in fairness they have good shows, the only wrong is the talents that they have been casted were inappropriate and they have a limited resources of talents to choose from ( iba kasi pag tatak ABS eh andun ung tinatawag na X-FACTOR), ABS-CBN’s talents are being molded into actors and actresses not just being a celebrity. .. however lets just respect the ASIAN TV AWARDS, they have their reasons to select nominees (mahirap na pag ang ABS ang pinili nila, mahihirapan kalabanin ang mga entries ng ABS).. its like they just pick DAHIL MAY ISANG IKAW because of the EMMY award’s nomination.. eh pag hndi nila pinili yun, their criteria for selection will surely be questioned (ASIAN TV versus EMMY’S)..
