Starting Tuesday (Oct 12), DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 and DZMM TeleRadyo began airing comprehensive traffic reports straight from the Metro Manila Development Authority Traffic Operations Center (MMDATOC) in Makati City.
Actual footage of traffic situations captured by MMDA cameras around the metro can also be seen on DZMM.
“Traffic is an important info that we must provide to help our viewers on a daily basis if not hour after hour. We are very fortunate to have the support of MMDA para mabigay sa publiko ang traffic situationers 24/7,” said ABS-CBN Manila Radio Division Head Peter Musngi.
Musngi said aside from traffic updates, “Metro Traffic Live” will also carry important MMDA announcements such as alternative routes, flooded areas, and the location of vehicular accidents or fire, which may lead to road closures or heavy traffic.
“Metro Traffic Live” is a product of the historic merger between the country’s number one AM radio station and leading cable news channel and the MMDA. Musngi and MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino recently signed an agreement inside the ABS-CBN compound to make the partnership official.
Tolentino said DZMM plays a big part in their goal to further bridge the gap between the agency and the public.
“DZMM is a vehicle where we can extend our reach to the people. We look forward to the efforts of this partnership,” he said.
Meanwhile, DZMM continues with its winning ways after taking home six trophies at the Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA) including Best Counseling Radio Program for “Dr. Love,” Best Drama Program for “Maalaala Mo Kaya Sa DZMM,” Best Business Radio News or Feature for “Sikapinoy” (Special Citation), Best Public Service Program for “Tambalang Failon at Sanchez,” Best News Program for “Radyo Patrol Balita Ala-Siyete,” and Best News Commentary for “Pasada Sais Trenta.”
DZMM also posted a 32% audience share in Mega Manila for the month of August based on the 2010 Nielsen Mega Manila RAM to continue its rule as the number one AM radio station.
