Anatomy of a Disaster Revisits Typhoon Ondoy this Sunday

Richard Gutierrez revisits Ondoy's fury on docu-series Anatomy of a Disaster.

This Sunday, September 26, GMA-7’s monthly environmental docu-series Anatomy of a Disaster provides another info-packed episode as it examines one of the more familiar and widespread calamities among Filipinos: floods.

A country prone to typhoons and heavy rainfalls, the Philippines has survived quite a number of floods, with the most recent one brought about by the catastrophic Typhoon Ondoy.

Exactly a year after it occurred, learn from what weather experts have to say about their experience with the infamous typhoon, which brought extensive damages to Metro Manila and its neighboring provinces including Rizal, Bulacan, and Laguna.

Anatomy of a Disaster host Richard Gutierrez also visited the Angat Dam to find out what changes they have implemented to ensure that heavy floods will be controlled or avoided in the future.

Furthermore, the episode will also attempt to answer questions related to floods as it presents some of the most disastrous floods recorded in history.

What series of events led to the submersion of a semi-desert area in North Carolina? How did the Guadalupe River in Texas, a favorite hangout for kids during summer, turn into a death trap and swept away lives in 1987? What happened after a dam built right above a community in Los Angeles in 1963 broke despite strict dam safety monitoring? And finally, how did the Tendon dam, a dam thought of as indestructible, manage to burst releasing water as strong as 250 thousand tons of TNT explosion?

Find out the answers to these questions and more as Anatomy of a Disaster dissects the crashing waves of floods this Sunday, September 26, on GMA-7’s Sunday Night Box Office (SNBO).
