MYX Magazine Celebrates Everything K-Pop

The Philippines is officially invaded by Korean music as pinoy K-Pop fans flocked the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall for the highly successful MYX K-Pop Event.

MYX, the number one music channel in the Philippines together with MYX Magazine , the number one music magazine in the country, joined over 1,500 screaming Korean pop music fans at the Music Hall of the SM Mall of Asia to celebrate the launch of the first-ever all K-POP issue of the MYX Magazine.

Hosted by MYX video jocks Janine Ramirez and Chino Lui Pio, the special launch of the MYX Magazine treated K-POP fans with fan club special performances, exciting booth activities and games!

According to MYX channel head and MYX Magazine editor-in-chief Andre Allan Alvarez, the MYX Magazine K-POP Special is an upshot of the insistent public demand of K-POP fans to feature their favorite bands. “In the previous issues of MYX Magazine, we would just feature one artist, or this boy band or that girl group. Pero medyo nababagalan sila. So we thought of finally coming up with a special issue that features all the artists that they are requesting for.”

In partnership with SM Music Box, the grand launch of the MYX Magazine K-POP Special treated fans with exciting prizes including autographed K-POP IDs, CDs, and 13 tickets to the highly anticipated concert of the Korean boyband U-KISS which will be held on June 14.

Alvarez shared that the MYX Magazine K-POP Special is a tribute to a phenomenon that has put Asian music in various international music charts across the globe. “I think the K-POP phenomenon is a good example of showing our local artists that it can be done. An Asian artist can actually be successful across the globe without prejudice because music is so universal that it goes beyond the boundaries of any country.”

“I think K-POP has already defied ‘yung understanding natin na they like it kasi nata-touch sila sa lyrics. I think it is more than that. It is a collective audio-visual experience na they enjoy the music, watching music videos, doing their hairstyle, their fashion,” Alvarez added.

On the cover of MYX Magazine K-POP Special is Korean pop superstar act Super Junior. Backstage insights and photos of their recent concert in Manila can be found in this issue. Other K-Pop groups and performers featured are Girls’ Generation, 2NE1, 4Minute, BEAST, Big Bang, BoA, f(x), FT Island, Rain, SHINee, SS501, TVXQ, UKISS, Wonder Girls and other promising acts to come from Korea.

MYX Magazine K-POP Special will be available nationwide by June 20 at leading bookstores and newsstands nationwide for P95.00 and is larger than the regular edition of the magazine.

MYX is available on SkyCable Gold, SkyCable Silver and other quality cable operators nationwide. Catch it on Studio 23 or call your local cable operator and ask for MYX now!
