Get to know Franco Daza, one of the new cast in Gimik 2010: The Reunion.

Age: 21 years old

How were you discovered?

My cousin’s a model. I was exposed to that first. I was just visiting here in the Philippines tapos nagustuhan ko yung yung modeling scene ditto s Philippines. So I asked him if I have a chance to model. And so he arranged a meeting with my tita, who is my manager now, her name is Patty Daza. And then my tit arranged a meeting with Ben Chan. And then okay naman, he got me to be a Bench endorser. So dun na rin ako na discover ng ABS-CBN. They told me that they are coming up with a new show. Consisted siya ng mga sons and daughters of mga artistas before, like Robin Padilla’s nephew etc and so I went to a go-see and from there nag-expand to where I am now. Actually nag-screen test ako sa Tayong Dalawa and Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo.
This would be my third teleserye exposure. First is Tayong Dalawa and then Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo and then This.

So your first plan was just modeling?

Yes. Di ko talaga alam na parang I’d be in to showbiz at all. I didn’t even know that I could act. It wasn’t my interest at first. Hanggang posing lang ako akala ko. Pero I accepted it. At nagustuhan ko rin naman kasi. It’s a brand new art. Most people think it’s madali pero getting into a character is a challenge. I love challenges.

Are you still studying?

I was back in Canada. Pero now im starting to enroll. Im applying to Lasalle or Ateneo. Depends.

What course will you take?

Business. Kasi my dad runs a business. My dad’s a chef and he owns a restaurant. I plan to take over the business and basically run it in the future.

Role?

the heartbreaker of Jessy. I was once her boyfriend but I broke her heart so medyo yung magiging tingin sakin ng viewers, ako yung kontrabida. And that’s the journey I’d like to take. Parang bad boy or the next Robin Padilla, parang ganun. Kaaway ko lahat ng G Boys.

How are you preparing for the role?

Workshops. Watching a lot of movies. Pinapanood ko sina Coco Martin, Robin Padilla and siyempre Hollywood actors so I can see how they do it.

You plan to enter the action genre?

Yes. Yun talaga ang main goal ko. Ang strategy ko kasi, ang dami na kasing mga love team now., And I see na parang it’s perfect timing for someone to come in sa action. Wala na kasi masyadong action stars ngayon.

Dream leading lady?

Since friends na kami, it would be cool to work with Anne Curtis, but it’s hard to top off Sam Milby eh hahaha. But I’m really happy with Jessy.

At what age did you start modeling?

Just last June. July naging Bench endorser ako. Two weeks after, literally, I signed with ABS-CBN. That’s why I am very thankful.
