Filipino boxers Mark Melligen, Bernabe Concepcion, and WBA Interim Super Flyweight Champion Nonito Donaire Jr. were honored for their courageous performance in the top-rating “Pinoy Power 3” in Las Vegas, USA during a thanksgiving merienda hosted by ABS-CBN Sports Friday (Mar 5). The three went home victorious with big wins against their Latino counterparts last February 13 (February 14 in Manila) and are now preparing for their next bouts. Melligen will fight this April, while Concepcion is slated to challenge WBO featherweight title-holder Juan Manuel Lopez. Donaire is also eyeing his third title in as many divisions against possible foes Eric Morel or Fernando Montiel. Also invited but failed to attend were other ‘Pinoy Power 3’ fighters Gerry Peñalosa and Ciso Morales. The airing of ‘Pinoy Power 3’ is part of a partnership between ABS-CBN Sports and boxing promotion Top Rank for the right to air boxing content from Top Rank events.
