‘Shutter Island’ Tops US Box Office

"Shutter Island," a thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio, raked in $40.2 million at the U.S. box office and was the top-grossing movie last weekend.

Shutter Island” is directed by Martin Scorsese and has a budget of $80 million. Released by Paramount, it opened this week on about 3,000 screens across the United States and displaced “Valentine’s Day” as the top-grossing film. “Valentine’s Day” was second this week at $17.2 million.
