Seven Filipino neophyte bands bagged one-year contracts with Apl.de.ap’s Jeepney Music in the recently concluded MTV Emerge.

Out of 1,858 bands that uploaded their music entries on the MTV Emerge website, seven were chosen namely DRP, Faircatch, Mid Nasty, The Pin-Up Girls, Soul Brothers, The Band Glenn, and Urbanation.

The seven bands were the top-rated and most-voted by the people and at the same time, they received the highest scores from the three judges namely Karylle, Rico Blanco and Apl.de.ap of the Black Eyed Peas. They were judged based on creativity, originality, and innovativeness of their lyrics and melody.

This endeavor is a joint project of MTV Philippines, The Department of Tourism and Apl.de.ap’s Jeepney Music.

“Jeepney Music serves as a vehicle for upcoming artists, Pinoy pride and Tourism, it’s my own little way of giving back to my kababayans who want to reach out to the world through their music and have a strong desire to represent the Filipinos around the world,” said Apl.de.ap, also known as Allan Pineda Lindo.
