‘Idol’ Contestant Michael Lynche Disqualified After Dad Reveals He’s in Top 24

Michael Lynch, also known as “Big Mike” of American Idol season 9 was allegedly booted out from the top 24.

Rumor has it that American Idol season 9 semi-finalist Michael Lynch, a.k.a. Big Mike, was disqualified because his dad revealed to their local newspaper, The St. Petersburg Times, that he made it to the top 24.

The ground for his disqualification is a violation to the confidentiality agreement between the contestant and the tv program by revealing his status as a semi-finalist, which was published eventually by their local newspaper. It’s a big “no-no” to every reality competition contestant to reveal any details from the on-going program and if proven guilty of violating this rule, he or she will be automatically kicked-off from the show.

There’s no confirmation from Fox as of yet if the rumored disqualification was true but according to reports, the 26-year-old “Big Mike”, was already replaced by another candidate from the Top 50.

Another similar incident happened last year when Joanna Pacitti was replaced by Felicia Barton. The network’s short statment was that Pacitti was, “ineligible to continue in the competition.”
