‘The Day the Earth Stood Still’ Tops RP Box-office, Twilight Hits P169 M

Just like in the US, Keanu Reeves' sci-fi remake "The Day the Earth Stood Still" topped Philippine Box-office last weekend.

Although lambasted by critics, movie-goers seemed to have no other choice to watch in theaters as the Keanu Reeves’ movie was the only 1 which debuted last week. It also received mixed reviews from the audience. Some people enjoyed the movie and some hated it.

Following closely is the romantic vampire flick “Twilight” which managed to raked P16.21 million on its 3rd week in Philippine theaters. Twilight has now earned a whopping P169,303,879.30, on its way to become the highest-grossing Hollywood movie in the Philippines for 2008.

The local comedy “Scaregivers” has now earned P26.07 million on its 3rd week. It has officially outgrossed the big-budgeted movie I.T.A.L.Y. which only posted P23.7 million on its entire run.

The love team of the hour, Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera, can now relax as their movie One True Love hits P62.47 million on its 4th week. It may be 4 million short to enter this year’s Top 10 among local topgrossers but surpassing the P50 million mark was not bad at all!
