Trinidad and Tobago Wins Beauty with a Purpose Award in Miss World 2008

Miss Trinidad and Tobago Gabriella Walcott has taken the last fast-track event in Miss World 2008 by beating Mexico, Hungary and Kenya in the Beauty with a Purpose award.

Trinidad and Tobago is now among the Top 15 semi-finalists by winning the last fast-track event joining Iceland (winner of Sports event), Mexico (winner of Beach Beauty), Barbados (winner of Talent) and Russia (winner of Top Model).

Apparently, the Miss People’s Choice which is supposed to be another fast-track event was canceled hours before the coronation night due to technical reasons.

Gabriella Walcott was delighted accepting her Tumisho trophy. “I have worked very hard with a children’s specialist hospital unit to make a difference and I am so excited to be going through to the Semi-Final. But the real reward for me is the difference I have been able to make to lives of people in my home country,” she said.

The remaining 10 semi-finalists are to be announced by the judges.
