People Magazine has named Aussie star Hugh Jackman as Sexiest Man Alive of 2008.

The Sydney-born 40-year-old beats heavy favorites including the new James Bond Daniel Craig, Spanish Oscar winner Javier Bardem, High School Musical’s Zac Efron and sports superstars Michael Phelps and David Beckham.

The Wolverine star will join the prestigious list of Sexiest Men like Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Matt Damon, Sean Connery and fellow Aussie Mel Gibson.

Hugh’s latest movie is the romantic epic Australia pairing him with Nicole Kidman, also an Aussie. He is a father of 2 kids: Oscar, 8 and Ava, 6 and the husband of Deborra-Lee Furness.
