Miss Earth 2008: Venezuela Wins Best in Gown, Australia Best in Talent

Miss Venezuela Maria Daniela Torrealba was named Best in Long Gown while Miss Australia Rachael Smith was adjudged Best in Talent in the ongoing Miss Earth Beauty Pageant.

The Miss Earth 2008 Evening Gown Competition was held at PAGCOR Grand Theatre in Parañaque Tuesday night. Aside from Miss Venezuela who grabbed the award for Best in Long Gown. Delegates from Japan, USA, Costa Rica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and Peru performed strongly as well.

In an earlier event, the Miss Earth Talent Competition was held at the Tamayo’s Villa Immaculada in Manila. The most talented delegate this year is Miss Australia.

Aside from Evening Gown and Talent competitions, the Miss Earth 2008 pageant also held the very first Fashion Design Competition. Ivan Raborar, a fashion designer based in South Cotabato bagged the designer award in the said competition which was held at the Amazing Philippine Theatre in Pasay City. Raborars’ creation was inspired by a native tribe in the South Philippines as worn by Miss Philippines Karla Paula Henry.

“Pasigandahan” Awards were also given to the contestants who carried the designers’ gowns gracefully. The awards were named after the various cities in Manila: Miss Philippines for Manila, Miss Jamaica for Makati, Miss Finland for Mandaluyong, Miss Israel for Pasig and the overall winner is Miss Korea.
