Maximo Oliveros Received 100% Rating in Rotten Tomatoes

The critics in Rotten Tomatoes are hard to satisfy. They gave "rotten" ratings to Da Vinci Code (23%), The Omen (32%), X Men III: The Last Stand (55%) and Poseidon (30%). But our very own digital movie "Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros" received a whopping 100% rating! Galing di ba? I hope Maximo will also harvest more awards in the local arena like Urian, Famas, Star Awards after winning some honors in various film festivals abroad.

Here’s what the critics are saying about Maximo:

“This debut feature by Filipino Director Auraeus Solito is a neatly observed take on Manila street life.” – Richard James Havis, HOLLYWOOD REPORTER

“An unusually low-key Filipino drama whose neo-realist air generally triumphs over the script’s violent, tearful contrivances.” – Dennis Harvey, VARIETY

“Ethics plays a big role in The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros as Maxi learns that even those who profess to be religious and lovers of law and order are capable of denying these commitments and capitulating to the enticements of power and money.” – Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat, SPIRITUALITY AND PRACTICE

“It is to director Auraeus Solito and screenwriter Michiko Yamamoto’s credit that they view their characters through a quietly revolutionary queer perspective.” – Keith Uhlic, SLANT MAGAZINE
