‘The Good Son’ Debuts Strongly Nationwide

More Filipinos were instantly captivated by the newest Kapamilya series “The Good Son” as the show’s pilot episode recorded a high national TV rating last Monday (Sep 25).

“The Good Son’s” story about love and family brought viewers to tears as the show garnered a national TV rating of 18.1%, compared to its rival show “My Korean Jagiya” that only got 10.9%, based on data from Kantar Media. It was also hit among netizens, as the series’ official hashtag #TGSTheBirthday joined the list of trending topics on Twitter, earning thousands of tweets.

The show also gained praised for its fast-paced storytelling and for the stellar performance of its cast.

“Congratulations to the whole cast of #TGSTheBirthday. It will make you cry and think, and I am happy because it’s all about family,” said Twitter user @riego_rhea.

“The show will leave you clueless about who the real killer is. The scenes are well executed. One hour is not enough,” @ForteBaba shared.

“There’s so much to look forward to. It’s just the first episode and yet there are twists already. Congrats,” @asharybb tweeted.

Viewers already got a glimpse of the lives of the four sons Joseph (Joshua Garcia), Obet (McCoy De Leon), Enzo (Jerome Ponce), and Calvin (Nash Aguas) during their father Victor’s (Albert Martinez) birthday celebration, which ended up in a tragedy when he suffered a heart attack. After his death, Victor’s long kept secrets will finally be revealed to entangle and bring chaos to both of his families.
