USA East has Puerto Rican roots while USA West has Filipino roots. 11 from our 15 choices made it to the semi-finals. The inclusion of Spain, Venezuela, Indonesia and Brazil were quite a surprise and the non-placement of Costa Rica was a little disappointing but at least he made it to the semi-finals and won the Mr. Photogenic award. USA East is no. 7 on our list and we are happy that he won. We are also happy that 4 Asians made it to the Top 15, we only predicted 3.

China’s placement as 2nd runner-up is a little controversial. Is it because the pageant was held there and most of the judges are Chinese? In my opinion, it should have been Gabriel Garro of Costa Rica who get the slot. Anyway, China has 2 contestants in this competition just like USA. North and South for China, East and West for USA. Wait, the US also have a representative from its Island states Hawaii and Guam so that makes them 4 Americans. Although the winner represents USA East, he is technically a Puerto Rican who is a US citizen. Mr. USA West is Filipino American and Mr. Hawaii is Filipino who is a Hawaiian/US citizen.
So what’ s with manhunt having more than 1 representative from one country anyway? Maybe they want to enlarge the competition by attracting more contestants (or by splitting a large country into 2). I’ve heard another Manhunt pageant is scheduled later this year…
